🧪Week of Science
🧫Fun Facts:
We open our day with a few Fun Facts from a collection of books that correspond to that year’s studies.
This week, those included a page about earth’s biodiversity and 17 megadiverse countries, and facts about elephants.
🐸 Special Studies
This term we’re using Delighting in Animals: Senses, Defenses, and Killer Instincts.
This week’s lesson is about the Poison Dart Frog, Poisons, and an animal’s sense of Sight.
This lesson includes:

🐾 Science 1: Zoology
This week, this lesson includes reading about Classification from a Biology textbook and narrating in Lab Notebooks. (Review from last week’s lesson)
For this we also read the Kakapoo and Tiger entries in Planet Zoo.
🌡️ Science 2: Climatology
For this lesson we simply read and narrate.
From “Understanding the Climate Crisis” we read about the greenhouse effect and carbon dioxide.
From “Helping Our Planet”, we took the “How Planet Friendly Are You?” Quiz and discussed.
🌳 Science 3: Ecology
This week’s lesson was a few pages of our Ecology Textbook with discussion and narration. We read about the correspondence between the distribution of biomes and climate variation.
We also read about the geography, climate, soil, biology, and human influences upon the tropical rainforest.
🦮 Career Studies
This is its own lesson, but it is largely connected to our science.
This week we read about the education and duties of a Police Dog Handler.
📖 Biography
Our biographies for the year include a connection to our science, and this week’s biography reading included a story about Will Allen, the founder of Growing Power Community Food Center.
🧺 Evening Basket
